About Sonia

Sonia is about 2 or 3 years old. The first year(s) of her life she lived chained up and neglected. When she came to us she was underweight and covered in fleas and ticks. She has come out of her shell quite a bit and we really hoped she would be our forever dog bc she came to us and chose us. We have had her for a little over a year now and she has gotten extremely protective over us. She has learned her parameters and now has started growling at people entering her/our property. She is extremely skittish when directly approached. A neighbors dog entered our yard barking at all of us and has been for the past 5 months. Monday Sonia almost fatally attacked the yorkie. She never was a threat and only a nuisance. We are now extremely worried this will progress and people entering will be attacked some day. We also have small children that I am now worried about as well. She doesn't like being in the house much so we have kept her on an electric fence outside as much as She wants to. She is potty trained. She gets anxiety when left alone and chews up shoes and toys when left out. She doesn't play with her own toys unfortunately. She can't be chained up bc she freaks out. She needs a home with adults only or very grown children that know how to approach and handle a skittish dog appropriately. Someone that is home alot and maybe doesn't get many random visitors. A loaner person that doesn't like humans but lobes dogs? Someone that wants a protective dog and has the time to teach her what is a threat and what isn't No small pets unless they are caged. Best no cats either all though we do have cats. I realize she doesn't sound very great but she really is a sweet dog. We are simply not the right fit for her and can't accommodate her needs.
