About Fat Boy

Meet Fat Boy, who ironically isn't overweight at all! This poor boy has been through a lot in just a year. Fat Boy was involved in a cruelty investigation (no food/water/shelter). Matters became even worse when he got into a fight with another dog in the home, the owner separated them by hitting him with a baseball bat. The owner did get bit on the hand while separating the two animals. Fat Boy has went into playgroups and does not shown signs of being an aggressor, he is social with a loose body when he greets others. He is very nervous around new people given his awful history. He is rescue only due to needing a patient person who can help him build confidence and overcome this fear. Retreated to the back of the kennel. Did allow staff to enter his kennel. Allowed leash placement. Dog did not want to walk out of the kennel and had to coax him out of the kennel. Walks great on a leash. Did have his tail tucked the entire time. Medical: Entered the exam room and appeared very scared. Decided to place a muzzle due to how nervous he was. Allowed muzzle placement. Used minimal restraint. Removed the muzzle and he did wag his tail a little. Seems to not have a lot of confidence but believe he will come around the more we get him out of his kennel. Idexx Heartworm Test: Negative. Plan to work with dog more to get him comfortable. Plan to make Rescue only due to scared behavior. Dog interaction: Social with other dogs, perks up around them. Very fearful of handlers. Loose body when greeting other dogs. Bite History: Was in a fight with another animal in the residence, when owner separated, owner was bit on the hand.
