About Gatsby

American Staffordshire Terrier / Pit Bull
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

'It was one of those rare smiles with a quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come across four or five times in life.' The Great Gatsby Our great boy Gatsby only has until 10/14 to find a family and RESCUE to help him! Gatsby is only 2 year old and around 57 lbs. He was found as a stray with no microchip and was brought in easily. The officer said he was 'Very scared and alert.' After spending the night at the shelter, he was brought out the next day to go potty. He was laying on the ground of his kennel trembling when approached but softened when he smelled hotdogs and started taking gently from the staff's hands! Good boy Gatsby! He was able to explore the yard wagging his tail and came up for pets and attention! The staff was returning him to his kennel when Gatsby saw a family on the path looking at dogs. Gatsby 'got excited and began wagging tail and trying to pull towards them as if he recognized them. Became frustrated when we would not let him approached family and began chewing through leash. Continued trying to pull toward family and began jumping up and biting at leash.' Since Gatsby succeeded at chewing through the leash, he has been in trouble and the staff decided he was no longer adoptable! He MUST have a rescue help get him out of there and into a home! This is SO UNFAIR! All he wanted was to greet a happy family trying to adopt! Gatsby was not aggressive, growling, barking, nothing! Just wagging his tail and excited! He wasn't let out for two more days, and by then he came up for attention, climbed on handler's lap, and needed love! This guy is a PUPPY! Because he has now chewed through 2 leashes, he requires a home with a secure back yard until he can get some leash behavior training! Gatsby hasn't been around other dogs, but might do well with some patience, training, and more patience! Gatsby just wants to be a family dog and be around people 24/7. Help us save him today!!
