About Xavier

Meet Handsome Xavier Xavier aka Marco is a dachshund mix. Xavier has had a troubling past where he was found as a stray on the side of the road in Mississippi. The shelter in Mississippi was evacuating due to the hurricanes that were imminent and transferred him to our rescue. While Xavier has had a rough start to his life, he is very lovable and sweet as can be to his family. He loves to give kisses and jump all over you. Xavier has very high energy and requires daily walks and lots of play time. Previous adopters have claimed that Xavier is very protective of his home and family and one previous owner reported that Xavier exhibited aggression towards friends or unknown Acquaintances in the home. These aggression's included barking incessantly and biting strangers who enter the home. When boundaries are set with Xavier in the home, he will not bite. However, since with our rescue, we have not observed him biting anyone or attempting to bite. Xavier requires a family who is committed to working through these type of concerns and understands the breed. Xavier does get along with other dogs in the home, except he does like to often play to rough or challenges the bigger dogs who have always put him in his place. We are not entirely sure about cats but, what we have seen is he does like to chase them. He loves car rides, snuggling, and is very confident too. He enjoys his toys and is very treat motivated. Xavier is heart-worm negative, microchip, nurtured, and UTD on his shots. If you have a heart to help mend this handsome but misunderstood boy, then he will be your best bud.
