Rocco is a 3.5 year-old black pitbull terrier. He weighs 41 lbs, loves cuddling, tug of war, long walks, bananas, and trying to steal chicken bones off the street. He dislikes wet grass, the rain, cats, and chickens. Rocco was tied up and left in my yard on a hot summer night in 2019. After bringing him inside, I learned that he came from a house with a lot of love, but not a love of resources or time. Having just undergone heartworm treatment with assistance from The Inner Pup, Rocco is heart-worm negative, crate trained, neutered, and up to date on his vaccinations. Unfortunately, due to my job schedule, I am looking to re-home Rocco with someone who can invest the time to continue to train him. Rocco tends aggressive with some male pitbulls and large dogs. He has also played nicely with a Catahoula and other females and smaller dogs. Ultimately, he needs someone to arrange and closely supervise his play with suitable friends. He will sometimes bark at other dogs when on walks, which I usually meet by distracting him with treats. As far as I have observed, Rocco has been friendly toward every person he has met. If he becomes too excited when playing with people, he will sometimes bite (has only left a mark on me once.) If I'm out of the house, he will occasionally find small objects in my room to chew on, but usually lays on my bed and rarely barks. He cries when he hears a new person or my voice outside of my room. I am hoping to find someone with the time, willingness to train, and patience to love Rocco in the way that he deserves.
