About Buddy

My husband and I rescued Buddy several months ago because he showed up at our home one day. We thought he belonged to our neighbor so we approached them. The owners said he got off his chain and that they did not want to keep him any longer. So we told them we would take him and keep him if he was a good fit, and if not, we would do our best to find him a good home. We know he has suffered neglect for several years and he may have been abused as he has not done well being around my husband. Buddy recently bit him because he seems to have aggression issues around males. I don't know if he is just overprotective of me but he does seem to have that personality type and my vet said that German shepherds are very protective. I have not had any problems with him and have found him to be quite loveable and loyal to me. We have 2 other dogs and a cat and he seems to be fine with them. He has never been aggressive towards them. He is playful, and likes to play ball. The previous owners have 4 kids and I know he has been around them without issue from what I was told, but we don't have children so I can't verify if he would be good with children or not. My husband and I have rescued several animals over the years but we have never had a big dog, or a dog that has been through what he has. We are older and just aren't capable of managing his care in a way that helps him become a well-balanced dog. Buddy would not be a good fit for everyone one but I am hoping there is someone out there who knows more about his breed and would want to give him a loving home.
