About Reggie

Hi, I'm Reggie! I'm a super sweet, playful pup who is so excited to be in Colorado. I came from New Mexico where I was on the brink of starvation, so I'm very thankful that my rescuers got me outta there! I can't wait to meet my forever family and love them forever! I love going for walks and hikes and runs and doing all the fun things with my people. I really love my foster parents and would follow them anywhere. I LOVE treats and so have picked up basic commands and other training really fast. I learned 'high five' in 2 tries, and I even consistently respond to 'come' when I'm playing with my doggie friends all the way across the yard. I am house-trained and very well crate trained. I love my crate and run right to it when asked. I'm also happy to sleep in my crate all night and chill in there while my foster parents are at work. I'm trustworthy in the house and have never chewed anything I wasn't supposed to. That said, I do need help with some things and am looking for a forever family with the following things: - I need a backyard or at least a lot of space where I can get my energy out without a lot of outside stimuli. A farm or rural home would probably be great for me! - I need a relatively quiet neighborhood, or at least a home setup where I'm oblivious to all the comings and goings on outside. An apartment or a busy neighborhood (like with kids and cats and dogs running around outside frequently) would be too much for me, and I can get over-stimulated easily (think lots of barking). - I need a home with no cats or other small animals. They are just too exciting and all I want to do is chase them. - I either need to be an only pet with a family that can give me a TON of exercise and mental stimulation, or with another dog that is playful, friendly, and very tolerant (not going to get mad at me if I'm in their face). I really love playing with doggie friends, but I tend to get more and more intense with my play style as I get to know them. One of my current doggie roommates doesn't appreciate this and it has caused some issues between us. I do well with the playful 9-month old pup who lives with me, although my foster mom still has to calm me down sometimes. - I need lots of mental stimulation. I'm a super smart pup and can get these high-energy crazy spurts if I'm bored. Stuffed kongs and other puzzle toys are great, but I may also enjoy being taught a job to do. I'm really easy to train! - I need someone who is very committed to continuing the training that I've learned so far. Because I love my people so much, I'm quite protective of them whenever I see strangers. I've come a long way with learning that not all strangers are bad, and I've even let a couple people come into our house without barking at that, but I may need help with my 'stranger danger' for a long time still. - I'd prefer a home with no kids. I get really excited when my people come home and I'm still learning that they don't like it when I jump on them. I could be ok with older kids, but probably wouldn't do well if they have friends who come over frequently. His adoption fee is $300 and comes with 1 private session with a trainer. If within the Denver-Boulder area, training will be with his current trainer. If not, we'll find someone close to you. Although Reggie does have some specific needs, he's really such a wonderful dog.
