'Nothing but a hound dog' - an Elvis hit; maybe our hound Sue will be a hit for you? Sue is a sweet 8-month-old (as of August 2021) 33-pound hound/boxer mix with plenty of love to give. Sue is very affectionate, loves to snuggle and stays close to her human. She has an adorable wrinkly furrowed brow when she is trying to make sense of something in her environment or when she is deep in thought. Sue will require a home with another dog and someone at home most of the time. She is a bit shy and a patient family or experienced with drawing a dog out of their shell would be a wonderful fit for sweet Sue. Sue has not been around young children but she is good with teenagers. She is currently in a foster home with 8 cats and is learning to respect them. The more confident cats have no problem hanging out by her, but Sue will playfully chase the others. She does the play bow with the confident cats and looks disappointed that they will not play with her. A home with dog savvy cats would likely be fine for Sue as long as the family is willing to be patient during the new period of introductions and boundary setting. She is motivated by tasty treats and is smart. We are working on manners and basic commands (sit, wait, down and leave it). In addition, she is potty and crate trained. Sue is quickly becoming accustomed to the sights and sounds in a house (dishwasher, washer, etc.). Who knew there were so many interesting things to learn about. She is also learning about all the things that go on outside and taking her time to understand things like - cars flying past. She is also learning how to play with toys although her favorite activity is rolling in the grass then resting on her back (she loves to be outdoors!). She is currently low to moderate energy. She puts her hound nose to good use and will FOLLOW a scent. A good yard with fencing is best for Sue. As part of Sue's $250 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
