About Ozzy

Adoption Fee: $1000
Australian Shepherd
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

I have had Ozzy since he was a puppy and he is an independent, high energy, loving and silly boy who needs a home where he can roam and play and be doted on. He is smart and loyal and very trainable. He also has fear aggression which started when walks outside began at 4 months-by 6 months he was lunging on leash at cars, bikes, scooters, joggers, etc and off leash will chase them down. After months of desensitization training he stopped chasing cars but still gets triggered by other moving vehicles so as of now I'm rarely letting him off leash unless I know it's safe. He would do best in a childless home and with no other dogs-he tends to resource guard and has often lunged at my other dog over treats and toys. He needs someone who can set firm boundaries and provide a consistent routine for him and who can also play with and train him. I would recommend an experienced dog owner, with access to an enclosed backyard who also has an active life, and time to devote to training and teaching. I've really tried but he needs more than I can give him and it breaks my heart that I can't let him off leash when I have seen how happy he is to roam and play in fields. He is good with other dogs for the most part, he will chase and be chased, big or small dogs, so long as they aren't in his house or near his owner. That's another resource he preciously guards, ME. I want him to be happy and be able to roam and play regularly in fields, (herd sheep maybe?), not walk on leash in the city, where he is constantly triggered.
