About Aspen

Adoption Fee: $275
Lab mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

(DOB 2/20/21) Due to her age, Aspen is not yet spayed. For this reason, she is only available for adoption within 1.5 hours driving time of Wake Forest, NC. Hi my name is Aspen, I'm a special little lady who loves life and all my foster siblings. I'm full of energy and I will make someone a great active companion for hiking and other fun outdoor activities! I absolutely LOVE to ride in the car and go on adventures. My foster mom says I do the cutesiest little chatter when I'm really excited. I'm still a baby at just 5months old, so I still have lots to learn! My ideal home would be one with a fenced in yard for me to burn off some steam. I truly, seriously, without a doubt, do not like being an only dog, so having another playful medium-large dog in the house will set us all up for success, and I LOVE going to doggie daycare. I'm still learning this whole potty training thing, but as long as I get frequent trips outside to potty before having too much freedom inside, then I'm fine. Ideally Aspen should go through continued doggie training classes. She has blossomed a lot in her foster home, but she needs someone understanding. She can be fearful with handling and would do best in a home willing to go to a fear free vet clinic. She does resource guard food (from other dogs) and high value things such as bully sticks and bones (from dogs and with people) and therefore should be separated in her crate for meal times or for special chew time. She does NOT show signs of resource guarding toys! Due to her resource guarding Aspen is only available for local adoption (her foster mom is willing to help her new family with understanding how to work with her) Aspen is also best suited to an experienced person. She will not be adopted into a home with children. She is currently living with a cat, who is very submissive with dogs, but she does fixate on him. So either a home with no cats or a cat willing to stand their ground would be best. As part of Aspen's $275 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. In addition to the adoption fee, a $100 spay deposit will be required at the time of adoption. The deposit will be returned once the spay is completed.
