AHFK is located in SE Minnesota, in the Austin/Albert Lea area. AHFK is primarily a Beagle and small dog rescue. Our focus is to pull from High-Kill Shelters and to save those dogs that are at risk of euthanasia. All AHFK adoptions require an approved, completed application, a Veterinarian and Personal Reference Check, a smoke-free environment, and a home visit. Our Adoption fee is $425.00 for a single dog adoption. All our dogs are completely vetted, 4DX tested, current on vaccinations, *spayed/neutered, and microchipped. We are currently accepting adoption applications for Piper. Piper is approximately 6-7 years of age. She came to Almost Home Foster & Rescue in 2021. She was treated for Heartworm and then adopted to a family where she has resided the past 4.5 years. Due to loss of jobs for both Pet Parents, Piper came back to rescue. Piper is a Chocolate Beagle, formerly know as a Red & White Beagle. She was born with a defective/blind right eye. Piper has lived her family life as an only dog, and although she gets along with other dogs in the play yard, she is assertive if there are treats or food being offered. At rescue, all of our puppers are crated when they eat. Piper has also been crated at night. If she is a sole family dog, she loves to sleep with her human, otherwise, we suggest crating. Piper is looking for a home where one Pet Parent that is a stay-at-home parent, or one which works from home; a family that can help Piper acclimate to her new surroundings and environment with compassion, love, and patience. Please allow 6-8 weeks for Piper to acclimate to the changes in her life. We state that Piper is potty-trained, however we realize that changes in routine and environment causes stress and can lead to accidents. A solid routine, patience and compassion are required for all new adoptees. Meet and greets are scheduled upon approved, completed application.
