About Poncho

Poodle / Bichon Frise
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

Hello, Thank you for your interest in Pancho. I am Pancho's foster parent and would like to share his history. Pancho was found running around over the Xmas holidays in central Phoenix. His finder found his owner, who was a homeless woman. She had given him to someone who then turned him out of his home. His owner, the homeless woman, gave the dog to the finder, who in turned surrendered him to Luv of Dogz. Pancho was in poor shape. He was covered in ticks and had not been groomed for a long time. He appeared to have one large tooth in front. He was suspicious of people and did not ant to be handled. He has since been vaccinated, neutered, and groomed. We also discovered that he had 3 teeth and all that had to come out because they were rotten. We estimate his age to be around 10, but in all honesty, no one really knows since he doesn't have any teeth. He weighs 8 pounds. He does love to play catch with the ball and runs after it gleefully. However, he cannot grasps it and it's quite sweet to see him valiantly trying to pick the ball up.. He has access to a doggy door and my back door, which is left open 24/7 for the dogs. As far as I can see, he is potty trained, although there is occasional marking. Pancho can be moody. By that, I mean he does not always want to be touched or picked up. He will get snarky, but since he doesn't have any teeth, it's been o.k. This may change as he learns trust his new person. He will come for hugs and cuddles when he wants. He'll jump up to sleep with me. Pancho will be best as an only dog. Even now, several months later, Pancho is still discerning on how he is touched. He will sit on one's lap; sometimes even allow petting, but more often then not, he wouldn't allow it and will snap. Fortunately, he is toothless and small, so it's not an issue, more an inconvenience. His new parent will need to give Pancho space and leave him be until he is ready for loves and cuddles. He is really a sweet dog, but his lack of trust in humans really a person willing to be patient. We would like to find a home that best suits his needs and his new parent. Pancho has had several enquiries and we would appreciate your application at: Luvofdogzfund.org/adopt/application if you would like to arrange a meet and greet. Thank you again for looking at a rescued dog. Fun Chan luvofdogz
