Bunny's world turned upside down when the sweet little stray landed in a loud and terrifying animal shelter. She was so scared that she would hide under her bed, and no one could touch her for the first week. But on the day New Rattitude arrived to pick her up, she crawled right into our volunteer's lap! Once out of the shelter, she starting settling in to her foster home quickly. A Rattie mix who's around 5 or 6 years old and an easy-to-handle 15 lbs., Bunny walks well on a leash and is dog friendly. While she does well with other dogs, she does like to be the boss. It takes her a few minutes to warm up to human visitors, but after a few treats she makes friends easily. Bunny is crate trained and nearly 100% reliable with her house-training. She'll sleep in her crate at night if you wish, but her preference is to be under the covers in bed with her human. Favorite things? Snuggling up to the other dogs and next to you (though she's not a lap dog), getting belly rubs, having you get her all wound up so that she wants to play, and doing zoomies in the fenced yard at her foster home. Her paws are crossed that you'll have a fenced yard too. Unfavorite thing? Riding in a car. If you like to take trips with your dog, Bunny is not the gal for you. Bunny's special talent (or annoying habit, depending on your outlook) is growling. Now, she doesn't have an aggressive bone in her body, but growling is her way of communicating and she needs a home that understands this. Bunny will growl to ask for a pet. She'll growl as she scratches her ear, rolls on the bed, or plays with a toy. She'll growl to tell the other dogs to move if she wants to sniff a spot that one of them is sniffing. She needs a home where the humans can interpret what she's saying. Young children would not likely understand her growling cues, but an adult who has small dog experience and who would enjoy the company of a colorful conversationalist would find Bunny to be an ideal companion.
