Kim is a sweet, really cute 11-month-old rat terrier mix puppy weighing about 12 lbs. She is extremely intelligent and energetic! Kim was adopted from New Rattitude by a wonderful family when she was just 3 months old. Unfortunately, as she has grown up, she has developed an aversion to the other dog in her home and reacts aggressively towards him, so her adopters have asked us to help them find her a new home where she can be an only dog. Kim is moderately well trained in all the doggy basics. She can sit, stay, shake hands, and roll over! She is mostly house-trained, but as with any puppy, still occasionally has an accident. Training is a snap as she is very food motivated, focused, eager to learn and responds well to positive reinforcement. Kim is a great walker and walks on a loose leash most of the time. Kim does struggle with social anxiety and is scared of strange humans and other dogs. Although she has made some progress, her new owner should be willing to continue to work with her anxiety and slowly introduce her to new places, people, and dogs. She would be best suited to a home without children as she is more frightened of them than adults and a child might unwittingly trigger a defensive bite. At home with adults who have earned her trust, Kim is loving and affectionate. She is definitely a 'kisser,' so be prepared to be greeted with puppy licks and kisses on a frequent basis. She loves to play with squeaky toys and fetch small balls to burn off that terrier energy, as well going on long walks in a quiet area or out-of-the-way park. Kim is very well crate trained. She sleeps through the night in her crate and is comfortable spending a few hours at a time crated alone during the day with no separation anxiety. Like all pups, this youngster is a work in progress, but the foundation is there and Kim will make a loving and devoted companion to the person who is willing to straighten out the kinks and make her their own.
