About Arnie

Arnie is a sweet dog who loves to be pet (and will nuzzle you or place his head on your knees for attention). He is very food motivated and well-mannered indoors. He is: Very friendly to humans/strangers Very smart and knows: sit, down, stay, turn around, roll over, paw, 'bang' (play dead), and 'clean up' (brings toys back to box) Crate trained Potty trained Quiet indoors (does not bark at doorbells/mailman) Does not to chew on furniture or shoes, especially if provided with dog toys Will not jump on the bed (we do allow him to go on the couch) Will wait until you wake up in the morning to come over and say hi (sniff you) Note that Arnie is also: Scared of skateboards/swinging tennis racquets (will bark and lunge) Reactive to other dogs outside. He is fine with meeting medium or larger sized dogs indoors. Because of a prior incident when he picked up a small dog in his mouth while off leash (the smaller dog was not injured but was shaken), Arnie is labeled as a 'potentially dangerous animal' in Hayward. The new owner will need to keep Arnie leashed on walk and Hayward Animal Services will need to contact your local animal control to ensure they are aware of this label. This label can be removed in Oct 2023 if no other incidents occur. Please contact me if you would like more details. Other info: Arnie is microchipped Fully up to date with his vaccinations (rabies, lepto etc.) We will include his bed, crate and leash With a baby on the way, we are looking for a new loving family for Arnie. Preferably someone who: Has a backyard for Arnie to play in Is willing to commit to training him and managing his dog reactivity in a positive environment Does NOT have other small dogs/cats at home Would be ok with staying in touch so we can know how Arnie is adjusting (not necessary) Please contact us if you are interested in meeting Arnie.
