About Argos

Pit Bull / Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

This gentle old man is a new arrival from the NYC ACC. After living with a loving home for 13 years he found himself at the crowded city shelter, scared and alone, when his owner was diagnosed with cancer. We couldn't leave him there, and pulled him a few days later. ' We knew that pulling a 13 year old senior may mean he would have medical issues requiring treatment, and we were not sure if he would be a hospice case or healthy enough for adoption. We got to work on medically evaluating Argos and found that he has several masses. Our vet ran tests on the ones that appeared concerning and they have all come back as benign! He does have one in his armpit that could impede his mobility, simply due to its location, if it were to grow, so it should be watched carefully. He also mostly deaf, but that just means that he adorably needs to be woken up to take one of his slow strolls around the block. Our vet thinks he may also be slightly sight impaired, but we have not seen him have any issues getting around, even in new environments, due to this. After all of the exams and testings were finished it was clear that Argos is nowhere near a hospice case, and he has plenty of life ahead of him! We are now ready to find him a forever home with a family to love and care for him in his golden years!! After going through so much transition, losing the only home he has ever known, Argos can be a bit disoriented in a new environment for a few days. He may pace trying to find a way to get comfortable, and he may bark even at night, as he is figuring out what the new routine is. This is very common for older dogs and especially if they have hearing or sight impairments. With some patience and love, he will acclimate! Argos is a sweet, affectionate, and gentle pup who absolutely loves life! He gets along with all people, children, and dogs of any size. He can be playful and enjoys playing fetch, running around (slowly) with other dogs, and taking strolls around the block. Above all else, he loves to nap in soft beds right by his favorite humans. This boy is a diamond in the ruff and he is so deserving of a second chance ago a loving home, this time for the rest of his life.
