*ADOPTION PENDING* Caden- A Once in a Lifetime Love! Caden's happy, bright spirit manifests in his infectious grin, bob-tail beat, and whole-body wiggle waggle. He's seeking a love connection with a one dog only Person to take his cue from. If you are searching for a once in a lifetime sweethearted shadow to wiggle waggle his way into your heart, Caden may be your boy. This bobtailed blue merle Australian Shepherd mix, is approximately 3 years old and 43 pounds. Caden's chaotic previous home did not understand an Aussie's needs and didn't give him proper mental, physical, and social interaction and training. During a frenzied free-for-all, Caden accidentally nipped a child's hand assuming the food held out was for him. Off to the shelter he went. Fortunately, he has flourished in an Australian Shepherd Advocates experienced foster home and come into his own. Unfortunately, his previous experience has had a lasting effect-he needs to be in a home with dog savvy children (10 and up), or adults only and a kitty or two. He doesn't read dog signals well and needs to be an only dog. Dog park and pup visits are not for him. A loving, herding breed smart Me and My Dog Forever is. Butt scratches, hugs, and extreme petting are his 'love-on-me' faves. He scampers after his Folks, always eager to be by their side. When he's happily engaging with his person, he does a sort of bend and step salsa dance- his back end moving independent of his front! Caden's an enjoyable, loveable goof! When scrambling ahead, looking over his shoulder, trying to anticipate where you're going, he's been known to run into a wall. Lost in a 'funtime' session, silly boy can suddenly tumble over himself in a jumble of limbs. A jig and a woof are an invite to a game of tug, catch, or frisbee toss. Caden is a bit of an athlete, and has potential for at-home dog sports. After play, he's ready for chill time with his Person. Caden is always up for car cruisin'- just tethered for take-off. The pup responds to: 'Leave it', 'Sit', 'Come', 'Off', 'Ah-ah', 'Kennel', and 'Bye-bye'. The affable Aussie does well with his house manners and crate. When caught doing a naughty, the boy looks up with a wide-eyed 'Who, me?'; his tongue lolling mischievously, inviting you to play along. His fosters call this 'The Caden Effect'! He occasionally jumps up with joy- a quick 'ah-ah' curbs any over-enthusiasm. Caden responds to consistent guidance- praise, pets, and healthy treat incentives. Walks are a work in progress- his pulling is improving with his front-clip harness. He isn't a fan of fireworks or thunder; sitting near his Person makes all the difference. Caden's a sunny, comical blend of sweet nature, occasional stubborn spunk, and social missteps. He would be a fun companion for Someone who works from home, and most enjoys spending time interacting with their only dog star. Or an active person home a lot who looks forward to 'me and my dog' excursions away from the maddening crowd. Caden's loving Folks have working experience with herding breeds, are patient, confident, and eager to invest time, interaction, and intentional training into a lifelong pal. Though felines are fine, his home is calm and will not have any other dogs and dog savvy kids 10 and up. Dog parks, doggie day care, or play dates are not for him. Multifamily residential buildings (such as apartments) are not Caden's thing. Introductions with new people, places, and cats MUST be slow and monitored. Caden prefers a fenced yard, but it may not be necessary for the right active, experienced home. Caden says with a big grin: 'Dear Forever Family, I'm ready and waiting to be Forever Yours! We're overdue for a lifetime of friendship and play. Whaddaya say?' Are you ready for the love of a lifetime with Caden?
