Reggie came from New Mexico where he was caught as a stray in a near-starvation health state. In the high kill shelter, he escaped death row twice. Luckily for him, the rescue saved his life and he got to Colorado with hopes of finding a perfect home. Reggie is a sweet and playful about 2-year-old, 50 lbs mixed breed dog. We feel confident he's got pit in him, as he's very snuggly, has an adorable smile with wrinkles around his mouth, and sleeps in awkward hilarious positions on his back. There's most likely lab in there (he's extremely food motivated!), and a little bit of a herding breed (maybe border collie?). Reggie has an uplifting personality-he's happy, wagging his tail with every encounter, wants to be friends with everyone (humans and animals included!), and is so excited when we come home from work! He likes going on walks and hikes and has started going on 2-3 mile runs. He's a great little adventure buddy. He's doing a great job learning basic commands and he's a fast learner (his obsession with treats makes it easy!) but will need more training and he needs regularly reminders on his manners still-he does get jumpy and mouthy when he's excited. Because of that, no children under 10 are recommended. He's good with all dogs. He does really well with our alpha female and has learned to play well with other dogs from her. So long as you are patient, he could be ok with a tolerant cat. He gets pretty excited by kitties and wants to chase, but he does back off when corrected and he ignores them if the treat bag comes out. Reggie is housetrained (not even one accident!) and crate trained-he sleeps through the night in his crate and is content in there while we're at work too. He's trustworthy in the house and we have let him sleep on the couch a few times with no issues. With some basic training and love, this handsome fella will bring joy and years of a beautiful and loyal friend to any lucky person or family. Reggie is fostered in Lafayette.
