About Grubson

Lhasa Apso
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Wow after the demon chihuahua post, we don't think we can top that! But we have Grubson! He is cute right? Fluffy hypoallergenic pup right? Looks can be deceiving though. Let me tell you the story of Grubson or as I affectionately call him Grubby! Grubson stepped into our lives as an owner surrender. You know those dogs the ones people say are good. Fact is most times they lie and in Grubson case he is not 'that' perfect dog. Grubby has his misgivings. Initially we determined he was hit with the leash, which took days, bite gloves and Xanax for me to take off. He also must have been kicked, as wanted to bite my feet so I had to purchase a pair of steel toed shoes. He was neutered in November but had complications and required emergency surgery to repair a hernia. Grubby wants to be a good boy. He tries and tries. He lives with 9 other dogs. He continues to work on his let me get along with the other dogs behavior. It's a work in progress. He would be best as an only dog. He is very territorial of his bed and space. I respect him for that and don't venture where I don't belong. He is learning to let others into his space%BD'%BD|.slowly. He has a dislike for men, but has worked through those issues with my husband. No lie he will have to get to that point again with men once he leaves my home. He cannot be in an apartment. His warning bark at any noise will curl your toes. It has taken 6 months to get him to where he can be comfortable in my home and his own skin. It will take equally that long for him to feel comfortable in a new home. He is a Lhasa apso. So is you know the breed you know that they guarded Tibetan Dwellings. They protect you from danger. He will protect his owner fiercely. He protects me from the other dogs, my husband, my son and anyone that enters where ever I am. He challenges your leadership so you need to be firm. Not too firm though as he takes that as a threat. He thinks he is a large dog, a very large dog. As noted when protecting his own, Lhasa's become fierce. He is suspicious of strangers. You will need to able to give him a sedative to take him to the vet or groomer. Did I scare you? I hope not! He needs the right owner. Female preferably. NO CHILDREN (not budging on the one). Not even grandchildren that come to visit. Fenced in yard is the best for him. He loves the outdoors and his chuck it ball. Leashing him is not going to be easy especially in the beginning. He will nip or bite if he is confronted or given the wrong correction.
