About Bernard

Adoption Fee: $150
Weimaraner / Pit Bull
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Bernard came to us from a home where other animals were being abused. At the least, he has witnessed some pretty awful things. And although he is in good physical condition himself and looks to have been well cared for physically (he did have veterinary care and showed no obvious signs of past physical abuse), we cannot possibly know what all he was exposed to. Because of this, we are looking for just the right home for this special guy. While in our care, he has been exposed to older children and dogs of all sizes, and has only shown signs of excitement and enthusiasm for play! Loud, yapping dogs do not seem to upset him. We've seen no signs of aggression or sound/movement sensitivity, however, we just don't know all of his past circumstances to make any guarantees. This is not to say we expect any problems, but in Bernard's best interests, we want to set him up with the best possible home for him to thrive. Having said that, we can tell you he does have a very strong prey drive! Chickens are definitely on his 'I wanna eat 'em!' list and we suspect kitty cats would probably not be a good fit, nor any other small animal. Larger animals are an unknown. Bernard absolutely loves to be with people and play with his toys! He needs some leash work as he does pull a lot and is incredibly strong. He will try to escape his kennel when the door is opened but he usually doesn't go too far. The sound of the treat bag can usually bring him right back. However, it would depend on what other things draw his attention. We suspect he has been inside before, but his house manners would need work and he is likely not fully potty-trained.
