Adorable little Ziggy was rescued by a Good Samaritan from a neglectful situation where he was kept in a too-small kennel, never socialized, and received no training for the first few months of his life. He had a lot of fears and trust issues, as well as some typical behavior issues that you might expect from the lack of training. Our Good Samaritan and his family have worked hard to help Ziggy overcome his problems and today, thanks to their patience and positive training, Ziggy is a happy, much more confident, and better behaved pup, who is ready for his forever home. Ziggy is a purebred Type B, or Teddy Roosevelt, rat terrier with the shorter legs and relatively longer body than the taller Type A rat terriers. Ziggy is a sturdy 18 lbs. and just celebrated his first birthday in April. He's an active and energetic boy, who would love to have a canine sibling to run and play chase with. He has been introduced to lots of other dogs of all sizes and playing chase is his favorite thing. He has never been around cats. Ziggy is completely house-trained and crate trained. He sleeps in his crate at night and often chooses it as a safe place to nap during the day. He walks well on a leash and really enjoys going for walks. He also knows all of the basic obedience commands such as sit, stay, wait, leave it, and come...a smart boy who learns easily. When meeting new people he has a tendency to bark, but with a proper introduction (Ziggy considers treats part of a proper introduction), he warms up. He does well with kids who are old enough to respect his space when he needs it and who don't try to pick him up. He currently lives with two boys, age 4 and 7, and he adores them. Ziggy would love to be a part of an active family with a yard to play in. Are you ready to get yourself some Ziggy love?
