Yorkie / Silky Terrier

This beautiful Silky Terrier/Yorkie mix is Lucky Florida Boy. He is about 6 years old and weighs a perfect 15 pounds. Please consider donating to the costs of his eye surgery which restored his vision - read the update below. Lucky is being fostered in Boca Raton, FL. Due to Covid all dogs being fostered in Florida will need to be adopted within the state of Florida. UPDATED BIO 06/18/2021: Lucky has previously been medically cleared after his eye surgery and has no more restrictions - hooray! It has been a long journey to get him to this place, but it is all been worth it. He is so happy and that's the best part of this story. Lucky has a follow-up appointment with the doggie eye doctor on July 12th, and if he is cleared for adoption, he will be ready to go to his forever home. Lucky loves to play with other dogs. He plays with his fur foster sister and brother all the time. Lucky would be okay as an only dog, but he also would be fine with one other friend. Only here's the thing, Lucky has this one little quirk. He gets very agitated when he is sleeping and is woken up abruptly. He can become very anxious and will forget to be his usual calm fun-loving self. He wants his doggie bed to himself and hangs out his imaginary 'Do Not Disturb' sign over it. This means that any other dog in Lucky's forever home can be playful but must not be a puppy and must be calm and respectful of Lucky's quiet time. This is likely due to the fact that his vision was very impaired prior to coming into UYR, and blind dogs must be approached cautiously. Some dogs sense medical and/or mobility issues (such as blindness) in other dogs, but others don't. This could potentially change now that Lucky's vision has been restored, but may not. Lucky has also let Foster Mom know that he does not like to be crated, so he needs to go into an adoptive home that understands this. Lucky has not been around children, but he is such an easy-going dog that Foster Mom thinks he would probably be great with mature children (12+ years old). Lucky is just about a perfect little fella. He loves playing with toys and sitting in the sun. He is well-mannered and rides well in the car. He does have glaucoma in one of his eyes, which will require eye drops daily for the rest of his life. The monthly cost of this RX medication is approximately $40 - $50 per month. He is a really good boy who sits nicely when the drops are administered. Easy peasy! BONUS! Lucky is house-trained and walks nicely on a leash. His foster mom says he is just awesome!
