About Turk

Adoption Fee: $175
Lab / Dutch Shepherd
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Male

TURK is one of a litter of puppies found living with their mom at an empty house. Our vet thinks they were born in late February. Their mother is a yellow lab/lab mix; Turk's dad was probably a shepherd mix. Because he had no human contact for the first 7 or 8 weeks of his life, Turk is behind in his socialization. If approached in his pen, he backs or runs away, but will approach and take food from your hand. He needs an adopter or adopters who have LOTS of time to spend with him over the coming, working patiently and consistently with him to get him comfortable with people and new situations, as well as leash, crate- and house training him. If you are gentle, patient, live a quiet life style and work from home / are retired or have a a nonworking/stay-at-home spouse and no small children, you would be a good candidate to adopt Turk. A fenced yard is a MUST (no apartment/condo complexes) and another well trained dog that's young enough to enjoy Turk's enthusiasm for playing with other dogs is highly desirable. Turk is up to date on puppy vaccines, has been wormed and is on monthly heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $175. For more information or an application, email Save the Strays.
