May 2021 Update: Ian has had some time to adjust to shelter life and we are happy to say we think he is doing much better! He did much better with dogs this weekend, even a small 17 lb dachshund mix (Stryker). He was much happier out in the yard and was even a bit playful! We are hoping this heartthrob will find his new furever soon! We don't know what lead to Ian ending up in the shelter, but he obviously had a tough time. We are assuming he was in an altercation with a small animal due to the scrapes and scars on his face. He is underweight so he has probably been roaming the streets for a while. Ian was reactive with the other dogs but we will retest in a few weeks once he has adjusted to shelter life. Ian is currently a resident at Vermilion Parish Animal Control. He will be vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped upon placement in an adoptive or foster home. To adopt, complete the adoption application at AAVArescue.com. Disclaimer: Most dogs are picked up as strays and are mixed breeds. Breeds listed are only guesses based on appearance as we are required to select a predominate breed.
