Update 4-29-21 Bert had his surgery on the 27th. He is doing very well recovering. After having him at the vet and around a very busy vet clinic, we have realized Bert will need a fenced yard with no dogs smaller than him and absolutely no cats!! He was very nervous and ended up freezing from and actually slipping out of his restraint to get away. He will not go out to potty on a leash. He has only known to go out in his own space off leash to potty. We have also figured out that it will be best to send Bert to a home of his own without May. The reason for this is because they both do not like to eat when the other is around. Bert very much loves to have the snuggles of his person and May is pretty much an attention hog. As she also loves to be snuggled. I apologize to all that have applied to adopt Bert that do not fit his needs. But we can not send him to a home where he won't be safe or will put your pet in harms way. Bert does at first mark his territory, but does stop once he has initially claimed it. He does also shed like the normal corgi. So if you have applied to adopt Bert and have a fenced yard, no other pets smaller then him or no pets at all please contact us to let us know. At this point we have several applications in on him, but we do need you to specify if you have a fenced yard. Again we apologize for any disappointment this decision may have caused. We just want to make sure he is placed in the right home for both him and his new family. Thank you all so very much for wanting to give him a home................... Meet Bert...... Bert came to us along with a little female corgi named May. When we got the call about these 2 we were told they were living in horrible conditions and were very thin. We contacted the owner/breeder to see if we could get them to surrender them to us and unfortunately they were not willing to release them unless a fee was paid...ugh!!! The conditions were so bad for these poor babies that we decided to rescue them no matter what we had to do to save them, our hands were pretty much tied at this point. When they finally arrived both were very thin and Bert looked very sad/old in his eyes. He had no pep in him and was just a sad boy. Our first step was to get him a bath, nails cut, and start him on a good diet. It has taken well over a month now to get him up and going and back to a happy/healthy boy. His weight is now good and he has been to see our vet. Bert is current on his vaccinations, deworming, heartworm and flea prevention. He goes in for his neuter on 4-27-21. After that the will be available for adoption. Bert does great with other does, but he does guard his food. This is probably do to the lack of having food from his previous owners. So now when he gets food he wants to make sure to protect it. If you have other dogs and have a feeding schedule Bert will do fine as long as you don't leave food down for them all the time. Bert loves to play with other dogs and absolutely loves his people. We do realize his adoption fee is quite large and we apologize for this, however with all of his vetting, care, and pull fee we are still not covering his total expenses. The little girl (May D.O.B. 1-20-15) will also be available for adoption after her spay, dew claw removal, and she has a small cyst we are having removed as well in June. Please let us know if you have any questions about Bert. Bert does currently use a doggy door and does know to go outside to potty. Bert is around 28 pounds and has a birth date of 1-22-15. He will be fully vetted before he is adopted. If you are interested in adopting please text or email us to request an application. Thank you for taking the time to read his story.
