About Val

Adoption Fee: $300
Border Collie
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Val is an approximately 1 year old Border Collie / Border Collie Mix. She's on the smaller side at under 35 pounds. She is a very sweet, loving dog who seeks attention from her human. She is house and crate trained. Walks nicely on leash and seems to enjoy her car rides. In the house she is very calm and does well with other dogs. She doesn't seem to show a lot of interest in the cats. Outside her herding dog traits come out. She needs to monitor and control movement. When other dogs are running and playing or especially chasing the ball she wants to block them and limit where they go. She doesn't seem super interested in the ball itself. She would do best in a home that understands this drive and is willing to train and help her channel that drive into positive activities. So she may do well with agility or other dog sports. She can be around other dogs both small and large but she can trigger spats when she's trying to control another dogs ball play. So she will need help learning boundaries or will need kept separate when other dogs are playing ball. Val came into rescue after being found in a rural area during a super frigid cold spell. She was underweight and heartworm positive. She has now gotten to a good weight and her coat is thick and shiny. She has completed her series of injections for the heartworms is ready to resume being a playful happy young dog. Val is ready to start looking for her forever family.
