About Keira

Keira - Female, Lab Mix, 62 lbs Weight Spayed Microchipped UTD on Vaccinations Bordetella Flea/Heartworm Preventative No heart or other health issues Keira is a lab mix, estimated to be about one year old. She weighs 62 lbs and we believe she is full grown. Keira found herself in a tight spot at a kill shelter and she was on her last day. We couldn't let that happen, so we pulled her into a foster home. She has been a wonderful guest in her foster home. She has been gentle with the smaller dogs that live there and even made friends with the resident cat. Keira is reliably house broken, though accidents during the initial transition day or two could be expected. She enjoys running zoomies all over the large fenced yard at her foster home, but would be ok without a fence if given ample opportunity to walk and play outside on a leash or in a dog park. Her leash manners could use a little work, but she is catching on quickly. Keira sleeps soundly on a dog bed next to her foster mom's bed at night. When her foster mom is away from home, she is crated, and while she isn't a big fan of a crate, she does so just fine and it is for her safety. Keira is still learning what she should and should not chew on. She needs to me monitored or crated and should be given plenty of chew toys to keep her busy. While her size makes you think differently, Keira is in fact still a baby at only a year old. She can be very excitable and jumpy when meeting new people and will need a person dedicated to continue training her on proper greetings and interactions. She may be too much for small children as she could easily knock them over. Keira will need firm instruction and boundaries set, but she responds well to correction and only ever wants love. She has shown no signs of aggression or biting. Keira would love another dog to play with, but would also be fine as your one and only. Only completed applications will be considered for adoptions. Since we are 100% foster based rescue, only APPROVED applications will be contacted to set up a meet and greet with the fur baby. We do not allow shipping and do not transport. You must live within a 5 hour drive from 62062 and able to drive for meet and greet. Thank you
