About Nikki

Adoption Fee: $350
Rat Terrier
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Meet pretty Nikki! She is a 2 year old, 9.8 pound Rat Terrier who was owner surrendered because her people were possibly moving. Nikki is a very timid girl. It will take awhile for her to trust you, but once she loves you, she really LOVES you! She is a very loyal little dog. She will 'protect' her person from other dogs by standing between her person and another dog and giving them THE LOOK. Other than that she has nothing to do with other dogs. She had a tough adjustment to rescue because she had never been with other dogs, and she definitely would prefer to be an only dog again! Nikki is all about her person! She is very cuddly, and is a lap dog. She will jump up wherever you are to be near you. Her foster mom says she is very 'springy'! Nikki sleeps in the big bed under the covers snuggled up to you at night. Her little stub of a tail wiggles happily whenever her person is near. She does have 'stranger danger' and will bark to warn you of a visitor she doesn't know. But once she is familiar with that person she is fine with them too. Nikki should not go to a home with little kids, but older kids that understand she needs space and time to get used to them might be ok. She has not been tested with cats and our best guess is that she would probably not be a fan. A fenced yard is always preferred, but Nikki walks well on a leash, although she will need some time to know you before you test her outside without a fenced yard! She uses a doggy door and was housebroken at her old home. She likes a routine and might need a refresher course on potty training, but would do well once she settles in. Nikki is up to date on shots, spayed, heartworm negative, has had a 12 month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. If you would like to give this little sweetheart a forever home please submit an adoption application for review!
