This beautiful girl Leila, needs her forever home. She is all love for all humans. It is hard even for the most stoic not to respond. So curious, eager to please. Not good with cats/squirrels/small pets. There is one issue which we are yet to figure out. She barks and lurches at other dogs when on leashed walks. This dog reactivity while on leash is something we are still trying to understand. Her reaction is quite that of a dog displaced from her natural environment. In her previous temp place, the rescuer thought she did fine with other dogs in her expansive acres. This makes us believe, she would thrive in some open spaces. The suburbs and leashed walks are all new to her and her bear treeing genes are quite likely having a compounding effect on her. When a dog is not in sight, she does great on leash. While fostering her, we keep taking cross streets at the sight of another dog. Duration of our walks have become very unpredictable. ha! She would need an adopter who is experienced with working dogs or farm like space where she can exhaust herself. Tired Leila is a very happy Leila. Bored leila might gnaw at anything that she can find/reach. Here is hoping there are some Montain cur mix lovers who can find her to be a perfect addition to their family!
