About Ernie

If you like big shy guys with a sense of humor, consider giving Ernie a chance to brighten your day! This sweet 8-month-old boxer/pointer/hound mix may lack confidence, but he makes up for it in personality! While he can be wary of new people, he's super sweet once he warms up to you and doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He's been in foster care for 3 weeks to work on socialization and he's made amazing progress. Ernie is smarter than the average hound, and is very sensitive to correction. He's completely housetrained, walks politely on a leash and loads into the car. So far he's doing well with recall too! Ernie's ideal home is in a quiet area with a yard and a confident buddy to play with. He's very docile but would be overwhelmed by young children or a noisy household. He loves playing with other dogs but will chase cats. He is still a puppy so he can be a bit mischievous (lately it's just been hoarding toys in his crate) but he has done great with learning boundaries so far and will make a great dog.
