Meet our sweet Penelope! Her story is a sad one. She was found wobbling down a rural area in Georgia. She had been seen wobbling around quite often before someone finally decided to stop and pick her up snd question why she is out on the roads... this little 18# Puggie girl! Well as it turns out her owner didn't really want her anymore and just put her out to fend for herself! Who does that?!? He told the Good Samaritan that if she wanted her to go ahead and take her... and thankfully, she did!!! But there was more to it than just getting her off the street. Penelope was something wrong with both of her legs which made walking difficult but the horrific pain didn't stop her as she had grown used to it. Being known in the rescue world as a pug fanatic, I was contacted to see if I could help her and I didn't hesitate. As it turns out, both of her knees were extremely luxated and would require surgery. However she needed to be spayed and needed a dental first but even before that we had to get her red blood cell count up first as she was anemic. But that was all over six months ago and today it is all a sad memory! Today she has a beautiful pain free gait, will never have any puppies thank the Lord and her mouth has some clean pearly whites! Penelope is a sassy independent little thing which is probably how she overcame the pain and agony of her situation! Today she is a happy girl and feels better than she probable has her entire life! Penelope tolerates other dogs but would prefer to be the only dog as she really doesn't want to share the love of her person. Penelope walks hreat on the leash, is housebroken, and loves car rides. Penelope is probably at least 8 years old and weighs about 18# and is young at heart! :-) Penelope would prefer a quiet home, lots of slow walks outside, and no young children please! We are adopting only to CT residents at this time.
