This is the information from the foster home on Horton - he continues to get better socialized each day: Horton is a 10 month old Pointer/Hound mix who came into the shelter when their owner passed away on Christmas Eve. He was extremely scared and not socialized. He has come a long way since that long ago night of loosing his owner. He may be initially scared but he warms up fairly quickly with a kind voice and a few treats. He is a very funny boy and watching him explore a world outside of the kennels is a treat. He gets along with all dogs, but not cats. He is doing very well on the leash but could use more work. He is not completely housebroken but doing very well in a crate when not being supervised. He is on a strict schedule. Horton is a hoarder. He goes around the house and picks up all the toys the other dogs have left out and takes them to his crate. Before bedtime you have to empty out his crate and there is usually at least a dozen toys in there. He will chew apart any toy so care needs to be taken when choosing toys for him. He will definitely need an attentive observant and patient new family. He is about 45 lbs. He is available for adoption. His adoption fee is $275.00. That fee includes neuter, current vaccines, heartworm negative, current on preventatives and micro-chipped. In order to visit or adopt you need to submit an adoption application which you will find on our website at www.patriotsforpets.com under the adoption tab.
