About Hemmingway *SEE Video*

So this will break your heart. Hemingway, who is deaf, was found with a heavy chain around his neck. The chain had to be removed by a veterinarian, who also found 'possible tread marks' on his head? That hasn't stopped this catahoula / American Bulldog mix from winning the hearts of the staff and volunteers at City of Long Beach Animal Care Services. He's an active 2-year-old boy who loves spending time with you, playing with toys, and rolling around in the grass. That Hemingway is deaf is no big deal. Those of us who have had deaf dogs recognize the blessing in that. (Hello, 4th of July!!) Vet notes indicate possible entropion on his eyes, where the eyelashes turn inward and scratch the eye's surface. (Our boy Mikey had that and it was corrected and he sees fine now.) It will take a special person or family to step up for Hemingway, since he might require some extra TLC. But he was put on the at-risk list today, and his friends are all a little worried.
