About POPPY

Beagle / Pit Bull
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Poppy is a 4-year-old Beagle Pit-Bull mix. She's a SUPER affectionate, gentle, happy, lovable, loyal, and sweet girl. She's a BIG SNUGGLE BUNNY. She loves people and other dogs, except for when she's out on a walk. She's a bit nervous when she's outside of her comfort zone (her home), so she acts out towards other people and pooches when she's on a leash. She just needs some training and then, she should be a PERFECT walking companion. Otherwise, she loves everyone, well, except cats. LOL! She LOVES to be outside, soaking up the sunshine and would LOVE to be in a home with a big yard and a tall fence where she can try her best to capture the ever-elusive squirrels or just lay around, watching over her domain. She also loves to be inside on a comfortable couch, lazing around and preferably getting belly rubs from her hooman(s). She will be best in a home with older kids who've had large breed dog experience. She is VERY smart and knows how to sit and shake hands. Her smile just says it all! She's a total ham! You should see her when it's breakfast or dinnertime, she will run right into her crate and scarf up her food, and then settle in for a snooze. Poppy, unfortunately, has a sad back-story. She was found starving in the woods. She had been on her own for quite some time and was emaciated. She must've learned that other people and dogs were a threat to her resources, since those were probably hard to come by when she was living in the woods. She doesn't go to adoption events because it makes her too nervous, there are just too many sights, smells, sounds, people, and other dogs coming by while she's in a crate, and it is just overwhelming and scary for her. But we'd love for you to meet her so we are happy to arrange a meet and greet! Once you meet her, she will melt your heart! She just has some quirks, like we all do!
