No hard barking and did not appear stressed in the kennel. Per staff has been easy to remove from and return to kennel. Trazodone does not appear to be medically necessary at this time. 2/28 (Vet Check) -- Senior dog that is on the skinny side with grade 2 periodontal disease and otherwise looks looks good on physical exam. He would benefit from senior bloodwork as a baseline, but no treatments are necessary in the shelter. He does not have any URI signs at this time. 2/27 (Intake Exam) -- third eye lid exposed, warm to the touch possible on coming uri, Also, underweight tartar build up possible dental disease and pressure sores, Behavior Observation: 3/16 (Per staff)-- Approached kennel and Doughboy got off bed and came up to kennel door. Easily leashed and removed from kennel. Started walk outside, peed on a few things. Then looked back at handler, growled and jumped up on handler. snapped at sleeve. Able to keep him a distance from me with lead. Turned around to go back inside, and he noticed second handler. Started to hard bark and lunge toward other handler. Was able to redirect attention, for a moment but then continued to bark until other handler was out of view. Walked back into kennel, and returned to kennel without issue. 3/12 (Per Staff) -- Had Doughboy out today! He was a very sweet boy in the run, sniffing the perimeter and stopping by every now and again for pets. Another staff member took Bella Thorne out and was walking her in the yard outside of the runs. Bella was definitely fixating on Doughboy, and Doughboy was trying to follow her around the run. They had a brief through the fence meet - kept brief because Bella got frustrated by the barrier and growled, but Doughboy's only reaction was to disengage and sniff. (See video of meet). He was super easy both getting out of and returning to kennel! Very sweet boy. 3/7 (Per Volunteer) -- He fixates and barks at dogs. We attempted him in the photo shoot but he lunged at the photographer and another volunteer. I removed him quickly as soon as that happened. He was difficult to redirect and continued to hard bark as I walked him out of the run. He calmed down once other people and dogs were out of sight. He does know sit and takes treats nicely from me. There was no concerning behavior when it was just Doughboy and I. He's such a cute senior boy. 3/4 (Per Staff) -- Spoke to previous owners. Doughboy has never actually bit someone. It was stated that he would show aggressive behaviors when strangers came to the home. He would then be put in his crate. He has lived with small children including a baby who is now 2 years old. He has lived with a cat as well. There has never been another dog in the home though. Once I took him for a walk yesterday he was a perfect gentleman, happy to be out and about. 3/1 (Per Staff) -- Kennel Presentation: Easy to leash/social. Comes to front of kennel when assessor approaches. Body is loose. Easily leashed and removed from kennel. Returning to kennel, no issues as he hops right in and allows leash to be removed while still loose. Leash Skills: Pulls Minimally On Leash Handleability: Loose/Allows all handling. In yard, immediately approaches assessor and allows handling with tail wagging and loose body. Follows handler around yard and will climb into lap for pets when given the opportunity. Tag: No interest Toys: Gives up willingly. Will run after balls and ropes and pick up before immediately dropping or tossing. 2/28 (Per Vet) -- friendly and tolerant of all handling, loose body language both in kennel and in exam room 2/27 (Per previous Owner)--Sweet, playful with family only ( 3 people) Does not like strangers will bite out of fear.
