About Clyde

Adoption Fee: $200
German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Clyde is a 4.5 year old German Shepherd. He will run up to new people barking and has leash aggression towards people and dogs. Meeting new people is a process. (Meet outside, throw ball, go in house together, play more in house, no sudden movements). He has EPI (Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency) and requires b12 shots every other week and a supplement on his food. He can only eat one kind of food (Zignature). Health needs make him fairly expensive. He seems to do okay with some dogs but not all. He needs to go to a kid free home (I've never seen him around kids but would not trust him as he can be scared by sudden movements). Since he does not do well with new people, going to the vet is a very stressful thing. We do not go unless we absolutely have to due to the stress it causes Clyde and us. We have tried lots of things and nothing has helped. The good: When Clyde is comfortable with you, he is a loving, fun, smart dog. He loves to play fetch, loves water, sticks, playing hid and go seek (with people and toys) and cuddling. Due to his leash aggression we are only considering people who have some acreage as it is stressful to take him on walks and want him to have lots of room to explore. Preference of someone in Oregon so if your situation changed we could take him back. To be considered, you must: have experience with large breeds dogs that have anxiety/aggression. Confirm that you have researched EPI and understand what this means for Clyde. Confirm that you understand that Clyde does not do well with people he does not know (aggressive barking) and that you will either need to be a non-social person or have a good place for him to be when you have people over. Confirm that you have some acreage and explain what his days will look like. If you are this rare gem, please email me at [email protected] and tell me about yourself, including the questions above.
