About Cooper

Heart dog alert! Four year old Cooper is looking for a person to love unconditionally. Although he weighs in at 55 pounds, he would love to be a lap dog-if you'd let him. In the yard Cooper has workaholic intensity, keeping track of every bird and squirrel. But his off switch works well, so he transitions quickly to in-house behavior. Cooper is looking for a home where he can run in a yard with a 6-foot, no-climb fence to keep him safe and enjoy warm cuddles with his humans. Cooper is the strong, silent type who rarely barks. He has not walked on a leash much, so that is a work in progress. Like most English Setters with strong prey drives, Cooper will likely never have enough recall to be an off-leash companion. He knows a few basic commands like 'sit' and 'stay.' Cooper is a hugger so people in his 'furever' home should be fit and steady on their feet. Because of his size and enthusiasm, no children under the age of seven please. Cooper is crate trained and house trained. He is treat motivated and will benefit from going to positive reinforcement training classes with his person. He has not been around cats, so we do not consider him cat-safe. Cooper is fully vetted and ready for adoption. He is in a foster home in the Dallas, TX area.
