[Read About Natural Incontinence Care] F8 Months | White German Shepherd | Special Needs Meet the magnificent, resilient GIDGET! Gidget is desperately seeking a place to call home and we know it is out there! She will need more attention and medical care than your average dog, but she deserves a happy ending just as much... Gidget did not have the best start to life as many rescue dogs do. Gidget's mom and dad were left to starve to death in an abandoned home. Lack of essential and medical care led these two beautiful white shepherds to become nearly unrecognizable. Upon being rescued, the heartbreakingly skinny duo went to the vet where it was also discovered that the male was heartworm positive and the female was, of course, pregnant. After landing safely into rescue, all the puppies went off to separate fosters to start the journey of finding perfect families. One by one these little white shepherds found homes...for all of them but one, Gidget. It was determined that Gidget was born with a congenital birth defect in her spine, resulting in incontinence and weakness in her back legs. Amazingly enough though, after the diagnosis Gidget was miraculously adopted! Even though she had her chronic disorder, they still wanted her and this sweet girl could not have been happier. Finally a home to call her own, forever.. so she thought. Ultimately, her incontinence was more than they could handle and she was right back where she started, homeless. Now this girl was not only without a home, but at 6 months old facing the quality of life conversation... Could anyone love her? Would anyone want to take care of her? So full of love to share, life to give and she was at risk of being euthanized. As soon as Do Over Dogs heard her story and saw her infectious smile we knew she needed our help! We have spent the last couple months working with Gidget, medical staff, trainers and her wonderful foster to get her all set up for success in a new home. Gidget is on a regimen of Proin to help with her incontinence, but does have to wear a diaper in the house. A structured routine has also really helped her thrive! True to her breed, this beautiful girl is so eager to love and be loved. So many smooches to share and smiles to bring to all the faces she encounters. This disability that she has is not a death sentence and we KNOW someone or some place is out there who will give her the second.. or third chance that she deserves! If you feel like you have the space in your heart to save Gidget, please contact Do Over Dogs asap!
