About RED (west)

Pit Bull mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Hi, my name is RED - ID#A4516909. I am a neutered male, brown and white American Pit Bull Terrier. The shelter staff think I am about 2 years and 2 months old, and I have been at the shelter since Dec 27, 2020. Here are the latest notes about Red: 1/31/2021 DAY FOSTER I pulled Red from the exterior of kennel and closed his 2 neighbors inside of their kennels to minimize Red's fence fighting. He exited building with minimal pulling. Once outside of shelter, converted leash to a modified harness. Red still pulls moderately though to sniff things, even with a harness. Red jumped into back seat of 2nd volunteer's car without hesitation. He leaned on this volunteer's lap to hang his head out the window and sniff and seemed very familiar with a car ride. Once we got to Encanto park, Red eagerly exited car. Red was pretty interested in watching off leash dogs running in park and so we walked around surrounding neighborhood instead. Red tried pulling into people's yards to smell even with harness on but was moderately easy to correct. Red was overly interested in a neighborhood cat that was walking parallel to us and it was difficult to break his stare. To Red's defense, the cat kept following us for several houses and we could not shake it from us. Red easily got back in car. Red showed great manners eating his cheeseburger when we stopped at Mcdonalds. Once as shelter, Red returned easily to his kennel. 2/6/2021 WALK Per volunteer: Barking when I approached, quieted and stood to be leashed. Came out fast and wanted to fence fight but wasn't able to on my short leash. Had to pass through the front yard to leave as the construction equipment had moved to the corner after I had entered F to pull him. After a few reminders not to pull, he walked nicely on leash. He jumped a couple times for attention. When I bent down, he leaned in for petting. Red sat for snacks and took them politely. Returned Easily on a short leash and keeping him close to the wall. Fun, friendly guy with the best rabbit ears. 2/9/2021 WALK Easy pull from and return to kennel. Sat for treat. 2/14/2021 WALK Easy pull from and return to kennel. Walks well on leash. Treat motivated. Please consider RED for your next furry family member. 'URGENT' If you have no breed restrictions, please call ASAP = 520-800-4633.
