TOBIAS - ID#A508855 Shelter staff named me TOBIAS and I am a male, brown brindle and tan German Shepherd Dog and Akita. The shelter thinks I am about 2 years old. I have been at the shelter since Jan 28, 2021 and I am available for adoption now! BEHAVIOR NOTES: 2/10/21 Spent time in the play yard with Tobias. He is wonderfully sweet and very affectionate. Not very interested in playing with toys of balls but does get excited and does little zoomies before running up to you for cuddles. He's calm, well behaved and well mannered. Very good boy. ml 02/05/21 Dog comes to front of cage when I call him over. He allows me to enter cage. He will push up against me and give me kisses on my face. Dogs behavior has improved with me. He is still frightened but with more socialization he should be able to be adopted. JS. 01/30/21 10:08 I visit each day and he continues to start each visit with loud and intimidating barks/growls. By the end of each visit, he is grumbling under his breath and shaking but taking the treats I brought because he likes them more than he is afraid of me. It's a start, he refused them at first. ml Update: 01/28/21 spent a little time with him after he was impounded. He acted aggressive towards me at first but it seemed to be all an act. He was growling and barking at me but his tail was tucked the whole time. Everytime he barked I said something friendly to him and his barks slowly decreased in volume and strength. I even laughed and he grumbled at me before truning away. After a few minutes, I had my hand against the kennel door and he was sniffing them but still unsure. I stuck a treat in and he sniffs that but didn't take it. Eventually, the treat drops and the sound of it hitting the floor maked him jump. He never showed teeth, never snapped at me, and no hackles. He is scared and nervous. He needs a little time. ml 01/28/21 12:17 RP says he started getting skittish once she arrived at the shelter. When I approached him to put a leash on him he started barking and guarding himself. Once we got him in the roller cage he continued growling and giving hard eyes. JD
