About Gris (Griz!)

Adoption Fee: $150
American Staffordshire Terrier / Pit Bull
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Griswold is an 8 year old sweet senior boy we saved from a high kill shelter in the nick of time. He was named after the main character from the Christmas Vacation movie because he was scheduled by the shelter to be put down (for no reason) on Christmas Eve. He is our Christmas miracle! The Grizzly Bear (nicknames are his fosters' love language) is a sweet, affectionate lover boy. When we rescued Grizzo, he had several masses and skin tags on his body that we had removed. The vet told us these were the result of being left out in the sun for years with no shade. He needs to be on a renal diet because his kidneys have been through the wringer - but this is easy as he loves his kibble and is highly trainable with kibble! He gets around remarkably well, but has arthritis in his leg, so he has a limp, which causes his ears to flop about adorably. The vet said this injury was caused by an old leg break that was never treated and that was left to heal on its own. Poor Gris was not cared for - he has not lived. Yet he is so resilient - he has held on and has come out of his rough life into this new chapter with boundless love for all people, families, and kids (he loves kids!). He's just an absolute love bug. There are times when Greezy is fine around other dogs and other times he reacts to them, particularly when on leash. He does amazingly when he's an only dog. He will shower you with kisses (that's his thing!), and follow you around everywhere helping you around the house and at whatever task you have at hand! He just wants to hang out with you all day and curl up and laze around with you in the evening. He'll do great with a person or a family who is up and about, active in the house and yard - he just loves to be with you! Waldo just needs the love of someone who wants to give a sweet old guy a second chance. His fosters say he is so loving and will thrive in a home where he can be an only dog with a person that wants to share a bond with a big ol bear like Grizzles. He is waiting for his person so he can shower them with affection!
