It can take up to a week to process an application. We are an all-volunteer rescue so please be patient. Our adoption area is limited to a 4 hour radius of Indianapolis. We try our best to provide all information in our bios. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask during the interview process. Some of our dogs have special requirements such as needs another dog in the home or requires a physical and permanent fenced yard. These requirements are not negotiable. Unless otherwise noted, we do not cat test our adoptable dogs. We also require that all pets in your household be spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and on a monthly heartworm/flea preventative. All the dogs we offer for adoption have been spayed/neutered, wormed and microchipped, are up-to-date on immunizations, have been tested for heartworm and are currently receiving a monthly preventative. She's so gentle & submissive; and you want to talk a great smile? She seriously grins when she's happy to see you! It'll melt even the coldest of hearts! Romani is a petite 2 1/2 year old german shepherd/border collie mix currently weighing about 40 lbs; we'd like to get another 5 lbs on her as she's still a bit thin. This girl has had a tough life. She was a stray for at least two years; animal control caught her twice during that period but she escaped from them both times. The third time they asked if we would take her. It's amazing that despite spending almost her whole life on the run, she loves the feel of human touch so much! She leans right up against you and snuggles as close as she can get! Romani is in a foster home with 7 other dogs and co-habitates well with them. Our girl doesn't really engage in play with the others; she doesn't seem to know how sadly. She will lie on the sofa near the others and doesn't mind if they are around her and does like barking at squirrels with them. Romani really needs a home where she can get tons of attention; she craves affection & is happiest when she's being touched so she'd be thrilled to not have to compete with so many dogs for cuddles. Because she can still be a bit timid with new people & new situations, we do feel she would do best with one other confident dog in the home who would show she could cue off to see that everything is safe. Romani will also need at least a 5 foot physical fence as she can easily scale anything shorter. Although she is extremely easygoing, we do not think that Romani would do well in a home with small children as she is still fearful of new situations. She needs a calm & quiet environment filled where she can continue to grow in confidence. If you think that you would be a good fit for Romani, please let us know.
