About Emmie-(Fee Waived!)

Lab / Border Collie
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

EMMIE UPDATE: Emmie is looking for a very special home that will be patient with her to help her settle into her new home. We have had a very generous and kind hearted woman (thank you Terri!!) that has donated her adoption fee for Emmie's new family. Emmie is wonderful, BUT, she does NOT like anyone new in her face. She has snapped at new people that have put their face in her face space. That is not something we generally do as a rule, but some dogs are more sensitive about this. A dog can take eye to eye or face to face contact as an act of aggression, so it is wise to be cautious doing such, especially when you do not know the dog. Emmie is fine with her foster family, once she trusts you she is more relaxed(but we still do not push the face to face issue!). This gorgeous girl is just over 2 years old and already has had more than her fair share of bumps in the road. Well, we all learn from those and they help us make us...well us! Emmie's bumps have made her into a wonderful girl, very loving, social, smart, and a well mannered little lady. But, she also has that wild child side of her, she LOVES to play with her dog pals or a great game of fetch with her people(sometimes she brings the ball back-lol!). Emmie is totally housebroken, doesn't chew on furniture and such but does love her chew toys. Plus, she listens well and is very people centered and accepts instruction. She originally came from Alabama and was adopted from a Chicago shelter when she was a wee one, just 7 pounds. Well here we are a couple years later, who knows what changed but this little girl got the short end of the stick. So many families are facing hardships due to the Covid, so not judgment there, but so sad for the dogs, cats and such that do not understand why they lost their family. Emmie was adopted for a few months thru our organization. The couple were very loving and kind, but possibly not assertive or dog savvy enough and Emmie took control a bit. Dogs will do that, if they sense that lack of leadership they will assert themselves...well...even a toddler will do that ya know!! (and I have met a few unruly toddlers-lol!!) Emmie will do well in an active home, no small children, please. She will do well with another active, social dog that loves to play. She is a little love of a dog that needs her happily ever after with a loving family/person. Emmie LOVES to go for walks, she gets so excited when she see's her leash. So many rescue dogs need extra TLC, so please, a home that has to be gone for long hours is not the right home for Emmie. She is an awesome, loving little girl, loves her toys, her pals. She will do best in a dog savvy(calm assertive!!) home that will know how to make her feel safe and comfy in her new home. She is a happy and silly girl, very well behaved(no chewing, potty problems...) and will be a welcome addition for a lucky family!! Emmie is fully vetted and microchipped. She is about 40 pounds. Her adoption fee has been waived for the right family. She comes with a free month of insurance if you would like and plenty of supplies to help her settle into her new home.
