This stunning girl is Callie, a 2-3 years old Australian Cattledog mix who weighs about 45 pounds. Check out Callie's video by clicking on the red YoiTube button. Callie knows basic obedience: sit, and come (unless she's chasing something). She is working on 'quiet.' She is also learning 'touch.' Callie is house trained. She is not crate trained. Callie is initially nervous meeting new people, especially men. She needs someone who makes sure to give her a polite introduction and then time to warm up. Due to that, she won't be placed in a home with young kids. Once Callie knows who her people are, she is a total love. She will follow her people around, wag at her person's every appearance, and wiggle her whole body in delight to see her person. Once she trusts her person, she adores her person. Callie lives with another dog at the moment. She also interacted nicely with other dogs when she was in a kennel. In a home, she can resource guard from other dogs, and this can be managed. Ideally she is an only dog or lives with an older, mellow dog her size or larger. Her prey drive is too much for small animals. Callie is good on leash and gets very excited for walks. She would be a nice walking/hiking partner. She is also fine in the car but can get overly excited and bark at people and dogs going by. Ideally she rides in a crate in the car until she becomes a more relaxed passenger. Callie is dog reactive in leash, and her foster mom is working with a trainer in this. She is making great progress as long as her handler knows how to preemptively manage her so she is well behaved on walks. Callie needs a country or quiet suburb for her new home. She isn't comfortable with busy streets. Callie is best friend material for someone who is able to continue to manage her training. She learns quickly and is very food motivated. She is also a total love to her people. She is moderately active and is happy to chill on the couch as long as she also gets some good exercise. Callie is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. She is located in Richmond, CA. Adopters must be able to meet and adopt in Richmond. We do not ship our dogs. A home visit and vet reference are required.
