Bama is the sweetest 10-12 year old, 7.5 pound blue fawn Chihuahua who was surrendered to us after being found as a stray. He is an absolute doll who looks at you with such sweet eyes that you are guaranteed to fall for him at first meet! This little guy has quite the personality and is a great cuddler! He loves to sit on your lap, or as close as he can to you, for loving. If you stop petting him he will reach out with his paw, or bop your hand with his nose, or nudge his head under your hand for more. Bama is particularly fond of belly rubs, but is happy with any type of attention and affection. You can scoop him up in your arms and give him tons and tons of kisses and he will close his eyes and let you love on him for as long as you want, in complete contentment. He has a cute, gravelly little bark that he will use to alert you of strangers in the home or yard, but other than that he is quiet and calm, and a great dog to take with you everywhere you go. Bama gets along well with other small dogs and will occasionally engage in gentle play with them, but would also be fine as an only dog getting all the attention from his owner. He is fine with cats, ignoring them for the most part, but will let them know if they are too much in his face. He is a lover of all people and we believe that he would be fine with older kids who are familiar with small dogs. Bama rides well in the car, will use doggy steps and a doggy door, and is leash trained. He is very praise and treat oriented and is doing great with his house breaking. He either needs to be always kept on a harness and leash when outside, or have a very secure fenced yard. Bama is an explorer of fences, and that may have led to him becoming a stray in the first place! At night he will want to sleep snuggled up in the big bed. Once he has found his spot, he sleeps the whole night through. Bama doesn't have many teeth left and has the cutest snaggletooth. His tongue pokes out just a bit which only adds to his cuteness! He has normal age related sight, hearing, and joint issues, but has no problem navigating outside or in the home. His foster mom is giving him supplements for his joints and they seem to be working well as he has started to feel a little frisky! He will hop and play, and bury his head under blankets, with his little tail wagging the whole time. He has a grade 3 (out of 6) heart murmur, which is fairly typical in small older dogs. Bama is up to date on shots, neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped with a lifetime registration. If you are looking for the perfect devoted lap dog, no need to look any further than Bama!
