About Bill and Ted

Adoption Fee: $475
Chihuahua
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Everyone, please meet senior Bill (12 years old, white) and his young friend, Ted (3 years old, black), a sweet, very bonded pair of Chihuahuas. This is one of those stories that breaks our hearts. These boys were brought to the rescue after their owner fell into a coma. As often happens, the owner's family didn't want to, or couldn't, take care of them and they signed them over to a shelter. Luckily for them the owner's friends were aware of what was happening and, fearing that they would not be adopted soon enough to avoid being put to sleep, decided to rescue them and bring them to us! Poor Bill and Ted were very scared and confused when they came to the rescue, and are still unsure of what has happened to them. They are small boys...Bill weighs 6.4 pounds and tiny Ted weighs 3.4 pounds! Both are underweight, but Bill especially is very thin. He has issues with his teeth and needs to be fed wet food. His foster family is feeding them several times a day to help them gain much need weight. Little Ted has warmed up to his foster family quickly. He loves sitting in laps and giving lots of kisses. He gets along well with other dog and enjoys playing with toys. Bill has been slower to warm up. He is still very sad and doesn't understand why he is not home with his owner. He spends much of his time sleeping in his bed. At times he will whimper and cry. When that happens Ted will go to him and snuggle close to comfort Bill. It appears that Bill may have limited vision due to cataracts. He will at times walk off the edge of the patio, so close monitoring of him is needed when he is in unfamiliar surroundings. He also has achy joints and is getting fish oil to help with that. His foster mom says Bill breaks her heart as he is especially feeling the loss of his owner, but he is improving slowly. He will sit next to her on the sofa as long as Ted is there. Both appear to be housebroken as long as they are taken out on a regular routine. As small as they are we would prefer a fenced yard to keep them safe and they should not be outside unsupervised. They should not go to a home with children and have not been cat tested. At night Bill prefers to sleep in a dog bed in the same room as his person, whereas Ted prefers sleep in the big bed close to his foster mom. Bill and Ted prefer to eat close together away from any other dogs. They have been to the vet and are up to date on shots, heartworm negative, neutered, and micochipped with a lifetime registration. Bill does have a grade 4 (of 6) heart murmur. Please note, we are NOT splitting the boys up at this time. We absolutely feel they need to be with each other. These two sweeties need a home where they can be loved and comforted as they heal from their grief together. They love each other very much and we are hopeful that one of our followers falls in love and wants to give them a new home.
