Sophie is a precious little girl in need of a new home. Her owners are older and have mobility issues. Since Sophie lost her sight, she has been sticking close to her mom and dad and has become a tripping and falling concern. Her parents are devastated but need to find a new home for her. So far, they have reached out to friends but have not been able to find her a home. Name: Sophie Age: 10 years as of 12/25/2020 Breed: Pomapoo (19 pounds) Sex: Female (spayed per current caregivers, not confirmed) Location: Spartanburg County, SC Vet Info: Sophie's caregivers tell us she is spayed and up to date on vaccines and has tested neg for heartworm but this hasn't yet been confirmed. Sophie's family state that she lost her vision last summer blind but the cause is unknown. Sophie has a heart murmur and has recently (past two months) started having diarrhea that is controlled by a prescription food and two digestive aids, Endosorb chewable and Visobiome probiotic that is sprinkled on her food. Owner Info: Sophie's family states that, 'Sophie loves to be cuddled! She loves to sit in your lap and have her belly rubbed. She is very affectionate and loving.' Her family indicates that her vision loss has slowed her down a bit. She is an indoor dog with the run of the house. She is housebroken and leash trained. Her Mom states that, 'Sophie loves to sleep in her crate as it seems to be her comfort spot at nighttime.' Sophie uses a doggy door to let herself out to potty. She will also 'sit' when she is asked to, before receiving a treat. Sophie is described as outgoing, good with men, women, teenagers and younger children. She does not live with other animals. Sophie's owners state that 'since she went blind, she is a little more aggressive around other dogs. If she bumps into them, she may bark or growl. She hasn't bitten them.' As far as adapting well to new situations and surroundings since she has lost her sight, Sophie's owners indicate that 'she's never been anywhere else, so I can't really say.' Sophie does not like to ride in cars. Her owners say that, 'She used to love to chase squirrels.'
