About Blossom

Maltese / Poodle
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

**PLEASE READ BLOSSOM'S BIO THOROUGHLY BEFORE INQUIRING.** Blossom is our beautiful (approx) 7 year old female Maltipoo who is about 12lbs of pure cuteness! This sweet girl came to us in absolute terrible condition when she was surrendered to the animal shelter. She had severe ear infections and a yeast infection that covered her body from head to toe which left her in pain and so uncomfortable. We got Blossom straight to the vet and then into a nurturing foster home that did everything possible to get her back onto the right track of health. Per the vet, Blossom is still a work in progress with her immune system getting strong, but if her current regimen is kept up, she will continue on the right path. We are looking for owners that will follow exactly what we are doing for her now including monthly grooming, anal glands done every 6 weeks, ear cleaning weekly, cytopoint shots (approx $80) from the vet every 2-3 months during allergy season, monthly flea meds year round), fed the exact diet we feed her, and medicated baths weekly. If this sounds like too much, then it's not the right home for her unfortunately, because all these things we are doing is what got her healthy again and we can't let slip backwards in her health. We are looking for owners that are savvy enough to notice when something is 'off' with Blossom such as head shaking (ear infections), scratching a lot (allergies), licking (yeast infection), scooting (anal glands), etc. Blossom can go into a home with another mellow/calm (she does not like crazy/active dogs) dog or she can be an 'only' dog, ONLY if she has owners that are around most of the day, work from home, or are retired. She is a pretty easy going dog who just wants an occasional short walk and then just spend the rest of the day lounging around and napping. Blossom CANNOT go into a home with young children. She DOES NOT like to be picked up and carried around by anyone and will nip in the air towards someone who bumps into her or touches her too quickly when she is asleep, which is the reason for no young children. She's not much of an outdoor dog and can be an apt/condo type dog, BUT if you carpet, it's probably not a good idea because she occasionally will pee in the house. She never poops in the house, but will pee from time to time, especially if there's carpet. This is usually stemmed from an owner keeping a dog crated and they just learn to go wherever. She only does it maybe once a day, but she will do it, so we can't say she is potty trained. Blossom is just a little sweet pup who had owners that never properly cared for her enough to take care of her medical issues, and instead just dumped her and forgot about her, so want to make sure she goes into the most nurturing yet responsible home we can find. **WE ONLY ADOPT IN LOS ANGELES AND SURROUNDING AREAS AS AN IN PERSON HOME CHECK AND TRIAL PERIOD ARE REQUIRED.** **WE ONLY DO MEET/GREETS WITH AN APPROVED APPLICATION** If you meet the requirements and would like to submit an application: You can download applications at: theforgottendog.org or we can email you one if you contact us and we do a phone interview to see if you meet the requirements.
