About Molly

Meet close-to-marvelous Miss Molly, a 4-year-old, 16-lb. Rattie mix packed with personality. This lively, intelligent pup lives life with an intensity that will make you laugh and keep you on your toes. Smart as a whip, Molly mastered house-training by learning to use the dog door within days of arriving at her foster home. Boundlessly energetic, she delights in chasing chipmunks and squirrels in her fenced backyard, running every morning with her foster mom, and wrestling with her fur brothers (with whom she also occasionally starts a squabble that her foster mom steps in to break up). She also likes to show her deep adoration for her humans by performing frequent 'check-ins' on them, where she'll dispense copious kisses and offer up her belly as a convenient spot upon which they may exercise their fingers. Molly's personality and drive suggest that she probably has more than one ancestor from the Russell Terrier family. She has a strong prey drive and a penchant for digging. She is also fiercely protective of the house and yard and will bark at any perceived threats. When she's out walking on leash, she'll react to seeing people and dogs by barking, depending on how close they are. Her foster mom is working with her by taking small, progressive steps to boost her confidence when they're out walking. Molly can also carry her territorial insecurity inside if she is allowed access to a throne (i.e. the human's bed) from which she'll ferociously 'manage' her canine foster brothers. (As a result, she now peacefully sleeps in a crate at night.) In order to become the fully marvelous self she's meant to be, Molly's going to need patient adopters who appreciate and have experience working with dogs with a strong terrier personality and a tendency toward reactive behavior. Because young children rarely have that kind of experience or patience, Molly should not go to a home with little ones.
