I'm Toby. Toby is pretty shy right now. The wonderful folks at MomsVA rescued me and a friend from a rather dreadful situation. Our owner had passed away and we were not well cared for or socialized. Toby is a Yorkie/mix. He is around 7 years young. I had matted fur and needed veterinary care and am doing much better now. I am AMAZED to be in a loving and safe foster home and looking forward to the time when new things, noises, and people aren't so scary. If you have thought about opening your heart and home to a furry orphan who really needs a chance to experience all the love that humans have to offer, I might be a good match for you. The best home would be very calm and predictable with one or more adults. Although I don't dislike children, their sudden movements are still scary as I am still trying to figure them out. Having another confident, low-key canine around is not a requirement, but it would probably be helpful as a way to translate this new human-filled environment into doggy-terms. My road to feeling safe and accepting the love given may require you to be patient with me. I promise that I want to feel safe and happy as much as you want me to.
